4.12  Military Training Leave:

Employees who are members of the United States Military, Naval or Airforce Reserve, or Rhode Island National Guard and are required by the appropriate authorities to participate in training activities or in active duty as part of the state military force or special active duty, shall be granted military training leave with pay not to exceed fifteen (15) working days in any one calendar year.

Such training activities as defined in this section shall not include weekly drill nights or similar drill period lasting less than one day, or training periods voluntarily engaged by the employee beyond the training period required of the members of the respective armed service.

Leave without pay shall be granted for training activities that extend beyond fifteen (15) working days in any calendar year.
