2.06  Probationary Period:

All new employees shall serve a probationary period of one year and shall be evaluated by their supervisor in writing at least twice during this period.  An employee may be dismissed by the appointing authority at any time within the probationary period.  Prior to the effective date of dismissal, the appointing authority shall notify the employee in writing stating the reason(s) for such action.

All employees who are promoted shall serve a probationary period of six months and shall be evaluated by their supervisor in writing during this period.  An employee may be returned to his or her former position any time during the probationary period providing the position is available.  An employee so affected shall be notified by the appointing authority, in writing, or the reason(s) for such action.
