2008 Hall of Fame inductee - Solomon A. Solomon

Solomon A. Solomon

As one of the historic leaders of the Community College of Rhode Island, Sol Solomon has devoted himself to the mission of CCRI since joining the faculty in 1967. Over the next 35 years, he served in a number of academic and administrative positions, retiring as chairman of the Business Administration Department in 2002.

In addition to serving on a number of high-profile boards and commissions, Solomon’s devotion to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital is legendary. He began his volunteer efforts in 1957 and since then has helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatric research.

In 2002, Solomon established the Solomon A. Solomon Business Administration Scholarship at CCRI. He was appointed to the Rhode Island Board of Governors for Higher Education in 2003 and continues in this capacity today.
