Francine J. Luizzi-Bench

Bio

Francine has worked for many years as a clinical hygienist in periodontal and general practices in the northeast. She has taught at several dental hygiene programs in New England before taking a position at CCRI in 2003. https://www.ccri.edu/catalog/pdfs/directory-faculty.pdf

Her special interests are active learning strategies, evidence based decision-making, musculoskeletal health,Infection prevention, and oral pathology and medicine. Francine recently attended the 7th Annual Oral Pathology Institute for Educators and Oral Medicine–Bridging Dentistry and Medicine at Eastman Institute for Oral Health. She is an advocate for Interdisciplanary education, and helped establish the first Simulation lab experience for the Dental Hygiene students in 2016.

She has served on the CCRIFA Grievance committee, Nomination committee, Distance Learning Advisory Committee, Environmental Health and Safety, Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee,Sabattical Review committee, and Educational spaces committee  . For two years Francine volunteered at the CT Mission of Mercy and served on the steering committee as sterilization co-lead for RIMOM from 2012-2016.

She has lectured on infection prevention and ergonomics at professional meetings in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She often volunteers at Yankee Dental Congress. She and her ergonomic co-speaker were invited to Crown Seating’s Ergonomic Exchange in June 2016. Francine loves to garden, cook, exercise, decorate, sew, and enjoy family and friends.
