The Conduct & Civility Process

The Community College of Rhode Island expects its students to treat all individuals with civility and respect. If at any time you feel as if your rights have been violated, as part of the CCRI community, you are allowed to file a complaint. At CCRI, we have a student conduct and civility process in place which we follow to determine if a student’s rights or the student code of conduct may have been violated.

The conduct and civility process is intended to be an educational one for all involved, which helps students to advance in their personal success and goals. All students who participate in this process should feel that they have been heard and treated fairly, and in a timely manner. This process is therefore intended to promote personal responsibility, self-reflection and ethical decision making in the future. Students who participate in this process should achieve the following learning outcomes:

  • An understanding of the conduct process at CCRI and their rights and responsibilities as a participant in the process
  • An understanding of the impact of their individual actions on the greater community
  • An understanding of how the individuals decision making may hinder their personal success and future goals
  • Recognize appropriate ways to manage communication in response to other individuals, including faculty staff and other students.
  • Recognize the ways to make positive decisions in future situations
