Bystander Training

Have you ever witnessed an encounter between two people, and wondered if there might be abuse involved? Do you know what you could do to help in such situations?

The Gender Equity Initiative's Bystander Training empowers you with the tools necessary to recognize and safely intervene in potentially abusive situations.

Discrimination, sexual abuse and domestic violence are some of the most pressing issues facing our campus and our country. By learning how to help de-escalate certain situations, active bystanders play a crucial role in reversing hate speech and acts of violence on our campus.

Bystander training can be scheduled for your class or department, and takes approximately 1.5 hours. After your class or department is trained, you will become part of the 'Join Me' campaign, and will be prepared to help break the cycles of abuse and violence.
