RI Driver Education Program
Please be aware that if a school location is closed for any reason, driver education is also cancelled at that location.
Students must be a minimum age of 15 years, 10 months by the first class to register. Students can register for a class well in advance as long as he/she will be the required age by the first class. Proof of age must be presented at the first class. Proof of age can be documented by providing a copy of your birth certificate, passport or baptismal record. Students who register but do not meet the minimum age requirements by the first class will NOT be admitted to the class and will NOT be refunded their money.
Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities
Individuals who require accommodations in a Driver Ed course should contact Monica Russell at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cost & Payment
Payment in full of $85 must be paid at time of registration.
Students who enroll in driver's education classes must purchase their own copy of the textbook, "How to Drive: The Beginning Driver's Manual" 14th edition prior to their first class meeting. The book costs $19.95 and will be available in all four of CCRI's Main campuses in Warwick, Lincoln, Providence and Newport and online for an additional $5 shipping cost. Students must provide a minimum of 48-hours’ notice prior to the start of a course in order to be eligible for a refund. Without proper notice or documented medical excuse, students will be required to re-register and pay. No partial refunds of tuition are made under any circumstances. Students are eligible for a refund in full if the course has been cancelled by CWCE.
How to Register
Telephone registrations cannot be accepted for the Driver Education program. Please select from the registration options below (Walk-In, Fax, or Mail). Please note that online registration is unavailable at this time. Driver Education teachers will NOT be able to accept registrations at your school. All registrations must be processed through CCRI prior to the start of class.
There is a maximum enrollment number for each class and several classes do fill fast, so please don't wait until the last minute to register! CWCE will cancel courses that do not meet minimum enrollment standards. Any student affected by a cancellation will be notified and eligible to transfer to another available course or receive a refund in full.
Students will receive an email notification confirming their registration within 2 days if a legible, valid email address is provided on the registration form. If you do not receive notification, you can call one of our CWCE offices listed in the contact information box on the top right of this page to confirm your registration. It is necessary for you to provide all required information, except those fields noted as ‘optional.’
Eligible students wishing to pay by cash, check or money order (payable to CCRI), or credit card may register in person at one of our CWCE locations. For more information on hours of operation by campus, see the Contact Information box on the top right of this page.
Eligible students wishing to pay by credit card may fax a Driver Education Registration Form (PDF*) to the Center for Workforce & Community Education Office at 401.825.1116.

Classes are scheduled on an ongoing basis, so if you don't see a class scheduled for your particular high school, check back again at a later date or consider registering for one of the classes being held at another location. Any new classes being offered will be added once a week on Mondays by noon. Students are required to attend all classes. If a student misses the first class, the student will be dropped from the class and must register and pay for another class.
