Sam AmaralSamantha Amaral - Head Coach

Samantha (Reyes) Amaral joins the CCRI volleyball program for her fourth season as head coach. Reyes is an enthusiastic leader who comes to the college with more than seven years of coaching experience at the high school level and more than 10 years of playing experience.

Most recently Reyes served as freshman and junior varsity coach for four years at Ursuline Academy High School in Dedham, MA where she led teams to four straight Division III South Sectional Championships. She previously served as a head coach in the open level of the Southern Alliance, working with 17- and 18-year-olds to prepare them to compete at the college level. She also served as head coach at Codman Academy High School in Dorchester, MA and as assistant and junior varsity coach at Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree, MA.

Reyes graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social work from Regis College in Weston, MA where she played volleyball for four years. She works as a case manager for Family Services of Rhode Island and resides in Providence, RI.

William Amaral is the new assistant coach for the CCRI women’s volleyball team. Amaral has six years of experience coaching high school and adult players. For the past four seasons he teamed up with Head Coach Samantha Reyes at Ursuline Academy High School in Dedham, MA. where they led teams to four straight Division III South Sectional Championships.

As a player, Amaral is nationally ranked No. 3 in men’s AA semi-pro beach volleyball and is a two-time men’s AA King of the Beach recipient in 2007 and 2009. He also plays in the Boston Volleyball Association where he was a former coach. Amaral is affiliated with many local regional and national volleyball associations and has coached many high school student-athletes who have gone on to compete at NCAA Division I, II and III schools.
