Warwick, R.I. – September 17, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights Soccer team traveled to Charlestown, MA to battle the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill Community College for their season opener. The Lady Knights beat the Bulldogs 14-0. With the victory CCRI starts the season 1-0 overall and 1-0 in Region XXI play.

The Lady Knights started eight first year players in the starting 11 who contributed seven goals to their opening victory. CCRI wasted little time scoring versus the Bulldogs of Bunker Hill in their first contest with Sophomore Tri-Captain Kat Raposo (Warwick RI) connected on the first of her CCRI record setting seven-goal effort in the opener to put CCRI ahead 2-0. Freshman (by soccer eligibility) Forward Sam Muller (North Stonington, CT), playing in her first collegiate soccer match tallied an unassisted goal next to give CCRI a three to nil advantage. Freshman Forward Caysie Gautreau (Burrillville, RI) connected on the first of her three goals next to put CCRI up 4-0 and they never looked back.

Freshman Keeper Maddie Brassard (Pawtucket, RI) held a clean sheet in her first collegiate game in her first collegiate victory with four saves.

Leading the way for CCRI was Kat Raposo with a record setting effort of seven Goals and one assist for 15 total points. Raposo's seven goal outburst broke the CCRI single game goal record of CCRI soccer legend Katie Leahy who scored six goals in a game during the Lady Knights' Championship run in 2002. Also having a big game was Caysie Gautreau with three goals and an assist while Sam Muller and Ariana Douglas (East Greenwich, RI) each had two goals with Muller adding two assist and Gautreau with one assist.

The next match for the Lady Knights will be Sunday the 15th when they will travel to American International College in Springfield, MA for a match at 12noon.
