Warwick, R.I. – October 1, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights women's soccer team traveled to Southern Maine Community College in Portland, MA to play the undefeated (7-0) Seawolves for a match on Saturday. CCRI fell to the Seawolves 2-0. With the loss the Lady Knights fall to 2-2 on the season.

The Lady Knights knew they were going to be in for a tough match versus the undefeated Seawolves of Southern Maine who came into the contest 6-0 and ranked No. 2 by the USCAA in Division II. Southern Maine scored both goals early in the first half. In the 11th minute Seawolves forward Callie O'Brien tallied the first goal unassisted to give SMCC a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later O'Brien tallied her second assisted by Jessica Haskell making the score 2-0 Seawolves. The score remained 2-0 until halftime.

During Halftime the CCRI coaching staff made some adjustments and began to dominate play during the second half. Unfortunately for them they could not find a way to score. The Lady Knights had nine shots with four on goal but could not convert any of those opportunities into goals.

Assistant Coach Mike Trudeau commented: "We lost to a good side. They dominated large portions of the 1st half but we began to take momentum late in the 1st half. 2nd half we dominated play, spending the majority of the time in their half but could not find a way to score."

The next game for the Lady Knights will be Saturday at 11am when they will host the Skylanders of Sussex County Community College at the CCRI Soccer Complex in Lincoln, RI.
