Warwick, R.I. – October 4, 2018: The CCRI Lady Knights soccer team traveled to Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA to play the Cougars for a Region XXI non-league game. The Lady Knights defeated the Cougars 1-0. With the victory CCRI improves to 3-2 overall and 2-0 in Region XXI play.

Holyoke has always been a very tough opponent for the Lady Knights. Over their last seven meetings CCRI has gone 4-3 versus this tough interdivision regional foe with Holyoke holding an 8-7 goal advantage in those matches. In addition, five of the last seven meetings have been decided by one goal. The Lady Knights traveled to O'Connell Field in Holyoke, MA for the 2018 installment of this fierce rivalry. The pitch was sloppy due to all the recent rain we have experienced in the northeast which made the game very difficult for both squads.

Just two minutes into the game lighting struck for the Lady Knights as Tri-Captain Kat Raposo (Warwick, RI) scored to give CCRI a 1-0 lead. With a sloppy field and evenly matched teams that goal turned out to be the only goal of the match. Raposo has an impressive eight goals in just five contests. In fact in the 12 games she has played in her career Kat has tallied 19 Goals.
