Pagliaro finishes Fourth at Tri-State Invite!

Warwick, R.I. – October 2, 2017: The CCRI Cross Country teams hosted 160 collegiate cross country runners from all over Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts for the 2017 CCRI Tri-State Invitational races on Saturday September the 30th. Neither CCRI men’s or women’s squads ran with a complete team. However, there were many season’s-best times by the Knights and Lady Knights runners.

Leading the way for the Knights was freshman Ryan Pagliaro (Smithfield, RI) who placed 4th in a great time of 28 minutes 36 seconds. Also running well for the Knights was Kelder Cardoso (Pawtucket, RI) who placed 27th in a fine time of 30:47. The men raced 8k and the individual winner was Joseph Santese from Nichols College with a tremendous time of 28:08.

The Lady Knights were led by Allison Lenox(North Kingstown, RI) who placed 34th with a remarkable finishing kick as she completed the race for a time of 23:11. Saramarie Cerullo(Smithfield, RI) placed 52nd in a fine time of 25:38. The winner of the women’s race was Olivia Wilson of Salve Regina who covered the women’s 5k course in a time of 19:43.32 to win easily by 19 seconds over her teammate Alex Dimeo.

The Women’s team Title went to Salve Regina with 27 points. The Men’s title also went to Salve Regina with a score of 58.

CCRI Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the races: “All four CCRI student-athletes continue to improve every week. All four are getting ready for the second half of the season when we travel to Boston for the Emmanuel College “Saints” Invitational.

The next meet for CCRI will be This Friday October the 13th when they travel to Boston, MA to compete I the Emmanuel College “Saints Invitational beginning at 3:00pm.
