Warwick, R.I. – September 14, 2015: the CCRI Knights cross country team, traveled to Henniker, NH to compete in the New England College Mayflower Open Cross Country Meet. The Knights did not have a compete team therefore did not register a team score but did have some very good finishes in their first meet of the season.
Leading the way for the Knights in New Hampshire was Freshman Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) who placed 36th in a time of 18minutes 59 seconds over the New England College 5k Course. Sankey was followed by sophomore Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) who placed 61st in a time of 20:42. Following Laney was sophomore Jared Gruslin (North Smithfield, RI) who placed 63rd in a time of 20:48. Rounding out the Knights runners was freshman Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) who finished 92nd in a time of 23:50 in his first collegiate meet. CCRI Head Cross Country Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the meet “This was a very good first effort for the Knights!”
The next meet for the Knights will be This Saturday the 19th when they travel to North Dartmouth, MA to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational at 10:00am.
