Warwick, R.I. – October 5, 2015: The CCRI Knights Men’s soccer team traveled to New Rochelle, New York on Saturday to face Monroe College for a 7pm under the lights match-up. The Knights lost the game by the score of 5-0 as Monroe continued its undefeated season. The Knights fell to 2-8 on the year.
The Knights defense held strong for the first 20 minutes of the game before Monroe got on the board. The Knights tried to control the ball and make their opponents play their game but every time the Knights made a mistake Monroe would capitalize.
Jonathan Almeida (Pawtucket, RI) played well for the Knights as he was asked to play the solo forward position during the game. There was only so much he could do but was still able to ignite some offensive chances for the Knights. The Monroe offense though proved to be to strong and they were still able to put in five goals.
Tri-Captain Steven Zelepos (Stonington, CT) and freshman Christian Ellerbe (North Kingstown, RI) both played a half in goal but were under duress the whole game.
The Knights will look to get a Win in their next game which is Wednesday, October 7th when they travel to face off against Region XXI Rival Massasoit.
