Warwick, R.I. – November 12, 2015: The CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Roxbury Community College in Roxbury Crossing, MA to play the No. 1 ranked (NJCAA DIII poll) Tigers of Roxbury CC for a Region XXI non-league game on Tuesday evening. The Lady Knights lost to the Tigers 96-68. With the loss CCRI’s record drops to 1-3 on the season and 1-1 in Region XXI play.
The Lady Knights knew they would be in for a tough battle versus the perennial Region XXI power Roxbury Community College who is ranked number 0ne in Division III and came into the game with a 2-0 record so far this season. Roxbury rocketed out of the gates and had the early advantage leading 19-9 and never really looked back. They were able to extend their lead to 52-26 by halftime. The Lady Knights played them pretty evenly in the second half but were not able to cut into the lead as the Tigers went on to twin by the final count of 96-68.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Kennethah Harden (Roosevelt, NY) who charted another double-double with a team-high 26 points including 20 in the second half while adding 12 rebounds. Harden was helped by Co-Captain Haley Beausoleil (Plainfield, CT) who scored 17 points, 15 in the second half, with a team-high six assists. Freshman Point Guard Alexis Antonacci (Plainview, NY) added 10 points while Freshman Guard Briana Gerena (East Hartford, CT) added seven points.
The Knights are back in action tonight as they will travel to Groton, CT to face the Pointers of UConn-Avery Point for another Region XXI non-league game at 6:00pm.
