Warwick, R.I. – November 20, 2015: The CCRI Knights men’s basketball team visited division and Region XXI rival Dean College on Thursday. The Knights could not slow the Bulldogs at all and fell 106-68. The loss put the Knights at 4-2 on the year and 4-2 in Region XXI play.
The Knights fought hard in the first half and kept the game close. They were able to go into half only down by eight, 45-37, which is within striking distance. The second half was a different story though as the Knights struggled defensively which faltered any comeback hopes they had. Dean was able to put up 61 points in the second half outscoring the Knights by 30. The Bulldogs were led by freshman Diamondt Thomas who scored 33 points while hitting three 3-pointers.
The Knights offense was led by freshman Elijah Vazquez (Woonsocket, RI) who had his third straight excellent shooting game. Vazquez was able to knock down six 3-pointers on his way to a team high 18 points while also adding six rebounds and two assists. Josh Mann (Detroit, MI) was the only other Knight to score double digits with 12 points. Sophomore Jordan Grant (New London, CT) led the Knights in rebounding with eight, and added eight points.
The Knights will play again on Saturday when they travel to the Bronx to play in the Monroe College Classic. The Knights will be playing at 2pm versus Monroe Community College.
