Warwick, R.I. – May 3, 2016: The CCRI track and field teams traveled to Weston Massachusetts to compete at the Regis College “Pride” Invitational over the weekend.
Alicia Moran (Warwick, RI) threw her best throw of the season in the hammer with a toss of 31.04 meters. The great throw placed her fourth in the event. Moran also placed 11th in the discus with a toss of 18.32m. Nina Perez (Providence, RI) placed 16th in the 800m run in a time of 2:47.24 while she also ran the 200m where she placed 26th with a time of 32.44.
Connor Williamson (West Warwick, RI) had a great day as he placed second in the long jump with leap of 5.78 meters. Williamson also placed fifth in the 110m hurdles in a time of 18.04. Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) ran the 800 meter for the Knights and finished with a time of 2:02.25. The great run had him finish fourth out of 24 runners in the event.
Mike Dutka (Chepachet, RI) placed third in the tough 3k steeplechase event. Dutka had a career best time of 11:34.90. Lee Mandanici (Medina, OH) placed second for the Knights in the 400 meter. He finished with a time of 52.9 seconds. Mandanici also ran the 200m dash and placed 11th with a time of 24.47 seconds.
Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) placed 18th in the 800m run in a career best time of 2:27.28. Giovanni Colon (Providence, RI) placed 11th in the long jump with a 5.07 effort and placed 16th in the 200m dash in a time of 25.27.
The CCRI Track & Field team will travel to Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY next weekend as they will be competing in the NJCAA National championship. Six Knights will be competing in the championships for CCRI. Mike Dutka will compete in both the 3k steeple chase and 10,000m run. Kody Sankey will run the 1500m and 5k. Connor Williamson will compete in the 110m hurdles and the long jump for the Knights while Lady Knight Alicia Moran, will compete in the hammer throw and discus throw. Fellow Lady Knight Nina Perez will run the 800 meter.
