Warwick, R.I. – May 2, 2016: The CCRI Knights baseball team completed their four game road trip on Saturday with a game against Potomac State. The Knights were able to win the game 9-5 making it a very successful road trip as they went 3-1. The win puts the Knights record at 15-10 on the season.
After a four hit, two run effort in their win over Catonsville earlier in the day Saturday, the Knights offense collected 14 hits and scored nine runs to get right back to their scoring ways. Potomac scored two runs in the top of the first to get the first runs on the board, but CCRI tied the game right back up in the bottom of the inning on back to back RBI doubles from both Dylan Brooks (Lookeba, OK) and Edison Mercado (Providence, RI).
The Knights then took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning when Austin Davis (Hollywood, FL) launched a three run home run to right field. The homer gave the Knights a 5-2 lead after two. In the bottom of the fifth, the Knights put the game away for good when they were able to push across four more runs. Brooks singled to score two runs, and eventually came around to score on a sac fly. Robert Paulino (Mirimar, FL) knocked in the fourth run of the inning on an RBI single to score Mercado, pushing the Knights lead to 9-3.
Potomac was able to score two in the seventh but their rally fell short as the Knights took the game 9-5.
Wally Luna (Providence, RI) started for the Knights and pitched a solid game to pick up the win. Luna struck out three while only allowing two hits in five and a third innings.
Davis went 4-4 in the game while scoring three runs, driving in three and launching the towering home run. Dylan Brooks was 2-3 with three RBI’s and a run scored while Mercado and Paulino both scored a run and had one RBI a piece.

The Knights next game will be Tuesday May 3rd at 3:30 pm when they travel to Haverhill, MA to face off against Region XXI opponent Northern Essex Community College!
