Warwick, R.I. – June 10, 2016: The CCRI Knights golf team continued play in the NJCAA Division III Golf National Championship at Chautauqua golf Course in Chautauqua, NY on Thursday. The Knights shot their best round of the Championship with a 330 team score but still slid to 12th place overall with an aggregate three day score of 1,015 just six strokes behind Camden County CC who has a 1,009 three-day total. The overall team leader is Vincennes University shooting a 293 for a three-day total of 898. The individual leader is Jacob Bartley of Vincennes with a three-day total of 219.
Leading the way for the Knights on day three was Eric Carlos (pictured)(Newport, RI) who shot an impressive 78 to give him a three-day total of 255 placing him tied for 72nd individually. Carlos was followed by Captain Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) who shot an 81 to give him an aggregate total of 243 to place him tied for 41st individually. Dan Hayes (Pawtucket, RI) was the next lowest golfer shooting an 83 to give him a total of 254 placing him in 69th place individually. Matt O’Brien (Portsmouth, RI) shot an 88 to give him a total of 269 to place him 83rd individually and Sam Caron (Cumberland, RI) also shot an 88 to give him a total of 274 to place him 86th overall.
The Knights teed-off from the tenth hole earlier this morning in the final round of the championship at the following times: Sam Caron at 9:40, Matt O’Brien at 9:48, Eric Carlos at 9:56, Dan Hayes at 10:04 and Josh Macera at 10:12.
