Warwick, R.I. – June 8, 2016: The CCRI Knights golf team is in Chautauqua, NY at Chautauqua Golf Course competing in the 2016 NJCAA Division III Golf National Championship. On the first day the Knights shot a 337 team score which has them in 10th place behind Anne Arundel CC at 327 and ahead of Bucks County CC at 339. The overall team tournament leaders are Vincennes University shooting a 303 on the first day.
Leading the way for the Knights on the first day was Captain Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) who shot a team-low 78 which has him tied for 20th individually. Macera was followed by Eric Carlos (Newport, RI) who shot an 84 which has him tied for 64th individually and Dan Hayes (Pawtucket, RI) shot an 87 which has him tied for 75 individually. The final two golfers competing in the first round were Sam Caron(Cumberland, RI) who shot an 88 to put him tied for 82nd and Matt O’Brien (Portsmouth, RI) shot a 95 putting him in 87th place individually.
The Knights teed-off Wednesday morning at the following times: 9:40 Matt O’Brien, 9:48 Josh Macera, 9:56 Dan Hayes, 10:04 Sam Caron and at 10:12 Eric Carlos.
