Warwick, R.I. – January 11, 2016: The CCRI Indoor Track Team traveled to the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury Crossings, MA to compete in the Roxbury All-Comers Invitational on Saturday. There were no team results but many notable individual performances to start out the second semester.
Leading the way for the Knights was sophomore Lee Mandanici (Medina, OH) who finished third in the 400m dash with a time of 53.52 seconds. Mandanici came back to finish 40th in the 200m dash in a time of 26.99 seconds. Also running well was sophomore sprinter Connor Williamson (West Warwick, RI) finishing the 60m Hurdles in a fine time of 9.37 seconds. Also running well were the three Knights in the 800m run led by Kody Sankey (Cumberland, RI) who finished fifth in two minutes 6.98 seconds followed by Jared Gruslin (North Smithfield, RI) who finished 23rd in 2:17.98 and Ian Fletcher (Lincoln, RI) who finished 33rd in 2:36.95. Rounding out the Knights efforts was the 4 x 400m team of Fletcher, Mandanici, Gruslin and Sankey who finished eighth in a time of 3:56.73.
On the women’s side CCRI only had one participant Nina Perez (Providence, RI) who finished fifth in the 400m dash in a time of one minute 18.13 seconds. Perez then came back to finish 21st in the 200m dash in a time of 34.07 seconds.
All of the CCRI runners put forth very good efforts to begin the second semester for the Indoor track squads.
The next meet for CCRI will be Saturday the 23rd of January when they travel to Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT for a meet beginning at 10:00am.
