Warwick, R.I. – July 16, 2009: The CCRI Knights golf team traveled to Chicopee Country Club in Chicopee, MA for their first golf match of the season. The Knights came in third out of three complete teams with a team score of 383. Winning the match was Dean College with a team score of 366 followed by UMass-Stockbridge with a team score of 368. Springfield Tech, Holyoke CC and Mass Bay had golfers but not complete teams to register a team score.
As a team the Knights had an aggregate score of 383. Leading CCRI in their first match was Matt O’Brien (Portsmouth, RI) with a team-low of 85. O’Brien was followed by Eric Carlos (Newport, RI) and Sam Caron (Cumberland, RI) who each marked a 90 while Meghan Rocheleau (Warwick, RI) had a 113 to give the CCRI team a total score of 383. The Match winning team was Dean College at 366 followed by UMass-Stockbridge at 368. Springfield Technical Community College, Mass Bay Community College and Holyoke Community College didn't have full teams.
The next golf match for the Knights will be Tuesday the 19th at New England Country Club the home course of Dean College.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes.
