The CCRI Lady Knights volleyball team traveled to New Hampshire Technical Institute (NHTI) for a match on Wednesday. The Lady Knights lost to the Lynx of NHTI 0-3: 22-25, 18-25 and 22-25. With the loss the Lady Knights fall to 1-7 on the season.
“This was a tough match.” said Head Coach Sam Amaral. “Our ladies struggled to overcome the loud crowed and scrappy defense that NHTI brought to this game. Though the Lady Knights fought hard and there were moments of greatness, unfortunately it was a little too late for us to take the game.” Coach Amaral added. The Lady Knights did well playing as a team at moments. Behind the service line we did much better this game. CCRI as a team knows what they need to work on. The Lady Knights plan on bring all they have to the Classic this weekend hosted by CCRI Knights.
Leading the way for CCRI statistically was Co-Captain Delyn Pizzaro (Homestead, FL) with 12 kills and a block and Hannah Derefaka (West Warwick, RI) with eight kills and two blocks. Also helping the Lady Knights was Kayleigh Clauson (Wakefield, RI) with 20 digs and an ace, Sarah Keomorokot (Pawtucket, RI) with 12 digs and four kills and Co-Captain Lindsey Proulx (Warwick, RI) added 11 digs, two aces and a kill.
The Lady Knights will host the CCRI Volleyball Classic this Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9am each day. The teams competing in the Classic are: Suffolk County CC (NY), Genesee CC (NY), Fashion Institute (NY), NHTI (NH), Bunker Hill CC (MA) and host CCRI. All matches will be played in the field house of the CCRI Flanagan Campus in Lincoln.
