Warwick, R.I. – May 20, 2015: The CCRI Golf team traveled to New England Country Club in Bellingham, MA, the home course of Dean College, to compete in the 2015 Region XXI Golf Championship. After the first day the Knights are in first place with a team score of 320 followed by the hosting school Dean College with a team score of 350 and then Massasoit Community College with a team score of 392. Also competing but with incomplete teams was Mass Bay Community College, Springfield Technical Community College and Holyoke Community College.
The Knights were led by 2014 Region XXI Medalist (low score at Region Championship) Steven Letterle (Cranston, RI) who shot a 77, freshman Alex Greenwood (Cranston, RI) matched that low score also shooting a 77. They were followed by freshman Josh Macera (Cranston, RI) who shot an 80 and Co-Captain Matt Burke (Wakefield, RI) shot an 86. Mike Higgins (Warwick, RI) also shot a 91 but his score was not used for the team total of 320.
The Knights will continue play in the Regional Wednesday at New England Country Club with a 30-stroke lead to decide the 2015 Region XXI Champions.
