Warwick, R.I. – April 24, 2015: It would have been easy for the CCRI Knights baseball team to look past their opponent on Thursday with their sights set on Region XXI rival UConn Avery-Point this weekend but they took care of business in a big way. The Knights defeated Springfield JV by the score of 17-0 on Thursday to put the Knights record at 13-9 on the year.
The Knights offense was hot and stayed hot the whole game. Leading the way on the day was Sophomore Diego Campus (Providence, RI) who hit a three run homer to go along with his two hits, three runs scored and five RBI’s on the day also adding a steal. Austin Barry (North Kingstown, RI) continued his hot hitting with another four hits on the day, scoring three runs and knocking in one while also swiping two bags. Dave Hopkins (East Greenwich, RI) and Co-Captain Eddie Apice (North Kingstown, RI) both had perfect three for three days while Hopkins scored twice and had two RBI’s. Apice also had a steal on the day, scored four runs and added one RBI. James Riley-Garnett (Newport, RI) also had a big day by adding two hits and four RBI’s.
Heiker Feliz (Providence, RI) picked up his first win of the season by pitching five scoreless innings and only allowing four hits and striking out six. Mike Gallagher (Stoughton, MA) and John Sikie (Cumberland, RI) each pitched a scoreless to finish off the game for the Knights.
