Palkovic runs very well to finish Second at Tri-state Invite!

The CCRI cross country program hosted the CCRI Tri-State Invitational Cross Country Meet on Saturday at the CCRI cross country courses On the CCRI Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, RI.  The Lady Knights did not have any competitors in the race.  The Knights’ men’s team did run as a team and finished seventh out of 10 teams with 157 points.
 
The Knights were led by David Palkovic (Middletown, RI) who ran a gallant race placing second by the narrow margin of .45 seconds. David ran his second fastest time of his career 27 minutes 25.86 seconds. In the finals 300 meters Palkovic and John Green from Wheaton College were in an all-out neck-to-neck sprint to see who would win the Tri-state Invite both exchanging the lead until Green had one final push with about 20 meters left to narrowly edge Palkovic at the finish line. David led his Knights to a seventh place finish.
 
The second runner for the Knights was Britton Laney (Pascoag, RI) running a personal-best time of 31:23.91 to place 31st. Laney was followed by Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) who placed 35th in a time of 31:46.65 in Hector’s best time of the season. Daniel Duquette (North Attleboro, MA) placed 40th in a time of 31:51.79, while Joseph Gareri (Uxbridge, MA) rounded out the Knights effort with a 65th place finish in a time of 37:08.96.
 
The next meet for the Knights will be Friday October 18th when the travel to Emmanuel College to compete in the Emmanuel Saints Invite beginning at 4:00pm.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
