Knights breeze past SNHU 14-1!
The Knights laced a season-high 19 hits Thursday afternoon, en route to a 14-1 pounding of Southern New Hampshire University’s JV team. With the win, the Knights extended their winning streak to four games and their overall record to 18-7.
Eddie Apice (North Kingstown, RI) led CCRI both offensively and defensively, not only posting a five-hit performance with four RBI at the plate, but pitching seven innings to pick up the win on the mound as well. Over those seven innings, Apice scattered four hits and recorded 12 strikeouts, while only allowing one run.
Ben Duarte (East Providence, RI) and Ryan Faria (Cranston, RI) finished the duties on the mound for the Knights, as each pitched a scoreless frame with two strikeouts apiece to end the game.
Ryan O’Dell (Lincoln, RI) and Zach Wood (Griswold, CT) each chipped in with three hits apiece, while Joe Yankee (Lincoln, RI) continued to swing a hot bat as he went two-for-two with two walks and a stolen base. Jon Vazquez (Bridgeport, CT) also contributed with two RBI as the Knights broke open a close game by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and tacking on ten more over the next five innings in their best offensive display of the season.
The Knights will be back in action when they head to UConn Avery Point for a three game series over the weekend to decide the conference champion and the right to host the Region XXI Tournament the following weekend.
