CCRI-2 Burlington County-8
On the mound for the Lady Knights Tri-Captain Mel Iadeluca (Warwick, RI) got the start and threw two innings giving-up three runs, two earned on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. Not a bad outing for Iadeluca but she took the loss and was relieved by Macayla Paiva (West Greenwich, RI) who threw five innings giving up five runs, four earned on seven hits with two walks and a strikeout.
At the plate for the Lady Knights they were led by freshman Sara Deal (North Kingstown, RI) who went 2-3 with a double and a single with two RBIs followed by freshman Alex Place (East Greenwich, RI) who went 2-4 with a run scored and two stolen bases. Also helping the Lady Knights was Brittany Smith (North Providence, RI) who added a hit and Kyrie Craig (Warwick, RI) added a walk and run scored.
All the runs for the Lady Knights came in the third inning. Alex Place singled with two outs, stole two bases, Kyrie Craig walked and Sara Deal hit a two RBIs double to score Place and Craig. CCRI could not hold that lead as Burlington battled back in the bottom of the inning to score three runs on small ball and a couple errors to take the lead. Burlington tacked on a couple more before the game ended to win by the final score of 8-2.
CCRI- 6 Burlington- 14
On the mound for the Lady Knights Katie Paddock (Providence, RI) pitched very well throwing 10 strong innings, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits striking out three and walking just two Burlington batters. Though her pitching line did not look pretty Paddock pitched a very strong game all the way through unfortunately late-game errors let the game get away. Paddock helped her own cause at the plate adding two hits including a double
