02.18.13

BarrosLexi Barros

CCRI Lady Knights’ basketball standout Lexi Barros (New Bedford, MA) will be featured as WPRI/WNAC Cardi’s Hometown Hero beginning this week.  The feature will air at 10:45 tonight Monday February 18th on the Fox Sports Wrap.  The feature was put together by Sara Hogan of Eyewitness News over the past few weeks.  Please take the time to watch the feature this evening. In addition, when the feature becomes available on-line I will also forward that link as well.

Here is a little information on Lexi: As a freshman Barros is currently ranked No. 27 by the NJCAA in scoring with 17.3 points per game, No. 6 in steals per game and No. 10 in 3-point Field Goal (FG) percentage shooting at a 43.5% clip.  In addition, Lexi is ranked No. 29 in overall FG% shooting at 51% clip while also dishing out 3.8 assist per game which ranks her just outside the top 50 in the nation in NJCAA Division II.   Barros has been a “driving” force on the 2012-13 Lady Knights squad charting over 20 points 10 times and scoring over 15 points in 16 of the 22 games she has played in for the Lady Knights this season.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
