No. 13 Lady Knights topple Thunderwolves 100-35!

The No. 13 ranked CCRI Lady Knights basketball team traveled to Batavia, NY over the weekend to play in the Genesee Community College Cougar Classic.  The first game for CCRI was versus the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College Sanborn, NY.  The Lady Knights defeated the Thunderwolves 100-35.  With the victory the Lady Knights improve to 9-1 on the season.
 
The Thunderwolves took an early lead, but CCRI took over the game midway through the first half and never looked back.  The Lady Knights led 45-20 by halftime and put the pedal to the floor in the second half to win by the comfortable 100-35 margin.
 
Leading the way for the Lady Knights was Lexi Barros (New Bedford, MA) who scored a career-high 27 points, including an impressive 6-7 from beyond the 3-point arc while adding seven assists, four steals and four rebounds followed by Co-Captain Jahira Smith (Brooklyn, NY) with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.  Also playing well for the Lady Knights was Nyjah Porcher (New Britain, CT) charting her sixth double-double in 11 games with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds and two assists and Ahnyyah Jackson (Hackensack, NJ) added 16 points, five assists and four steals.  Rounding out the CCRI attack was Moe Plummer (Fairfield, CT) with eight points, five steals and four assists and Jenna Ayala (Paterson, NJ) added eight points, seven rebounds and two steals.
 
The Lady Knights will play the hosting Cougars of Genesee Sunday morning at 11:00am in their final game of the Cougar Classic.           
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes. Its athletic program boasts 12 varsity programs and an academic support program for all student-athletes.
