CCRI- 0 Massasoit- 9 in four and half innings due to the Mercy Rule
On the mound for the Lady Knights was sophomore Dara Patton (Cranston, RI) who pitched four innings giving-up nine runs, eight earned on 12 hits, walking four and striking out three batters to take the loss. The Warriors had a great game at the plate and unfortunately for CCRI though they did not play poorly they could not string any hits together to score runs and Massasoit did.
Offensively for CCRI Co-Captain Mel Iadeluca (Warwick, RI) had a double in the second inning as did fellow Co-Captain Liz Coburn (Chepachet, RI) in the fourth inning. Rounding out the Lady Knights’ offense was Kate Fowler (Warwick, RI) who added a single but that is all the offense for CCRI as they fell in four and a half. They must win the next two games to advance to the district championship.

Fowler had a two out bunt single in the first inning but that was the only hit. Iadeluca added a lead-off single in the second but that was it. Alex Place (East Greenwich, RI) had a one out walk in the third inning followed by a single by Coburn but CCRI was still yet to score. Deal had a one out double in the fourth followed by a single by Craig but the Lady Knights still had not scored the two runs for CCRI were scored in the sixth inning: MarcAurele led-off with a double followed by a walk by Iadeluca and then a two RBIs triple by Deal, while Craig also had a hit. The only run for Massasoit came in the first inning as the Lady Knights got the hard-fought 2-1 victory.
