CCRI golf remains undefeated at 7-0!
The CCRI Knights golf team traveled to Chicopee, MA to play the UMass-Stockbridge (UMS) golf team. The Knights defeated UMS by the narrow margin of 364-366 in their closest match of the year.
Under poor scoring conditions at Chicopee Country Club the CCRI team was able to pull out their closest match of the season against UMass-Stockbridge 364-366. Led by Co-Captain Anthony Lovechio (Wakefield, RI) with the low score of 85 and Co-Captain Pat O'Connor (North Kingstown, RI) with an 87 the Knights as a team were able to overcome a day that they shot 34 strokes over their team average. Head Coach Brian Deighan commented "The good news was that we found a way to win when we were not at our best. Winning by 30 strokes doesn't prepare you to win championships". Rounding out the CCRI foursome was Nick DeSalvo (Burrillville, RI) shooting a 95 and Gina Bartolotta (Wakefield, RI) shot a 97.
The Knights’ next match is Monday April 22nd when the travel to Wayland, MA to play at Wayland Country Club the home course of Mass Bay Community College for a match versus Mass Bay, Holyoke CC and Springfield Tech.
The Community College of Rhode Island, New England’s largest comprehensive community college, enrolls nearly 18,000 students in credit courses and thousands more in non-credit and job training classes.
