Everything came together on Tuesday as the Knights pounded out 14 hits and Dylan Pingitore (Johnston, RI) turned in another tremendous pitching performance scattering five hits over six and two thirds innings while recording 10 strikeouts to register his second win of the season. CJ Angelo (Trumbull, CT) and Marc Boutilier (Orlando, FL) pitched the last two and a third innings to seal the victory. Ryan O’Dell (Lincoln, RI) and Ryan Wordell (Little Compton, RI) led the offensive attack with three hits apiece and Joe Yankee (Lincoln, RI) continued his hot-hitting with two hits, including a long homerun to centerfield and three RBIs. Jacob Saley (Trumbull, CT) also contributed two RBIs as the offense pounded the ball for the second game in a row.
Head Coach Ken Hopkins feels that “This team is still a work in progress and once we put both the offense, pitching and defense together, we will start to get on a role and some confidence will return.”
The Knights are back in action Wednesday when they will host the Cougars of Holyoke Community College from Holyoke, MA for a Region XXI non-league game at 4:00pm at Fell Field located on the CCRI Knight Campus in Warwick.
