Bobby Allen runs Knights’ best-ever finish at UMass-Dartmouth Invitational!
Four CCRI cross country runners traveled to North Dartmouth, MA to compete in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Because only had four runners available for CCRI they did not compete as a complete team but did have some memorable performances. Among the Knights’ to performers were Freshmen Bobby Allen (Cranston, RI) and Ben Marino (Warwick, RI).
Bobby Allen had the best finish ever by a CCRI runner at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational. Allen finished in sixth place with the fastest 8k by a CCRI runner since Gregg Cornell has been coaching the team. Bobby ran a blazing 25 minutes and one second flat. Ben Marino also ran very well for the Knights’ placing 12th in a time of 27:44. Sophomore Stefan Cox (West Kingston, RI) placed 221st in a good first race time of 31:29 and Sophomore Isaiah Hector (Warwick, RI) rounded out the CCRI runners with a good first CCRI cross country race placing 225th in a time of 31:41.
Head Coach Gregg Cornell commented after the race “The men did well for the first event of the season and should run a full squad for the rest of the 2011 events.”
The Knights’ next meet will be Saturday the 24th when they travel to Franklin Park in Boston, MA to participate in the Cod Fish Bowl at 11:30am.
