Lady Knights go 8-2 at Holyoke Invitational!

The CCRI Lady Knights volleyball team traveled to Holyoke, MA to compete in the Holyoke Community College Invitational.  The competing schools were: Holyoke Community College (Holyoke, MA), UMass-Amherst club team (Amherst, MA), New Hampshire Technical Institute (Concord, NH), Nashua Community College (Nashua, NH), Springfield College JJ (Springfield, MA) and The Community College of Rhode Island.  The Invitational format was a double round robin with each team playing each other once a day Saturday and Sunday.  The Lady Knights went 8-2 on the weekend to bring their overall record to 15-4 on the season.

On Saturday the Lady Knights went 4-1 in their five matches with an 8-3 overall game record.  Here were the individual match results:  CCRI defeated Nashua CC 25-13 and 25-12 for a 2-0 victory then lost to UMass-Amherst 19-25 and 21-25 for a 0-2 loss they followed that by defeating NHTI 25-19 and 25-19 for a 2-0 victory.  They closed out the day with victories over Springfield JV 23-25, 25-20 and 15-13 for a 2-1 victory and a victory over host school Holyoke CC 25-22 and 25-19 for a 2-0 victory.        

On Sunday the Lady Knights also went 4-1 in their matches with a 9-3 overall game record.  The match scores were:  CCRI defeated Nashua CC 25-6 and 25-9 for a quick 2-0 victory followed by avenging their loss to UMass-Amherst with a 26-24, 17-25 and 15-13 for a 2-1 victory and then defeated NHTI 25-17 and 25-22.  They finished the day with a loss to Springfield JV 21-25, 25-22 and 13-15 for a hard-fought 1-2 defeat but bounced back to defeat Holyoke CC 25-10 and 25-20 for a 2-0 victory.

Overall the Lady Knights went 8-2 in their 10 matches with an impressive 17-6 game record which tied them for the bets in the double round robin format.   

The Lady Knights’ next match will be Wednesday the 28th when they travel to Springfield to face Springfield College JV at 7:00pm.
