Richard Marchetti:
Head Coach – 5th Season
Richard Marchetti enters his sixth year as the head coach of the CCRI Golf Team. Marchetti, a Johnston, R.I. native, is a graduate of CCRI and a former member of the CCRI basketball team in 1971-72. He went on to play basketball at St. Joseph’s College where he graduated before returning to Rhode Island to get a master’s degree in arts and counseling at Rhode Island College.
Marchetti brings unique experience to the golf team after serving as the director of golf operations for Target Sport Adventures from 2000-01. He has taught psychology courses at CCRI since 2002. One of the courses is designed to give students the basic knowledge of normal adjustment. Because golf is a game of reading and adjustments, Marchetti said, “Trying to get my players to understand course management and to get them to understand better what they can do and what they can’t do, will make them better players and us a better team.”
