Knight Campus Art Gallery

Schedule Fall 2010

The Art Gallery is located in Community College of Rhode Island, Room 3500, on the third floor of the round building at the Warwick campus, 400 East Ave (enter the library on the fourth floor and go down the stairs to right). 

Gallery hours:  Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

An artist talk will be held at 6 p.m.

West Meets East:
A Cultural Book Exchange

This collaborative project shows approximately 20 books with 900 pages covered in drawings,writings and collages initiated by artist and former Community College of Rhode Island student Joanne Luongo featuring the work of students and faculty from the National University of Art in Bucharest, Romania; Worcester State College; Quinsigamond Community College; and The Massachusetts College of Art & Design.

Jane Masters:
Don’t Try This At Home

In her solo show,  "Don’t Try This At Home'  Providence based artist Jane Masters presents words, geometry, and repetitive patterns using a variety of techniques to achieve her detailed compositions. Sometimes burning holes into paper forming decorative patterns and witty phrases like the show's title and sometimes creating etched metal panels and scratchboard drawings, Ms. Masters work always displays meticulously intricate patterns, a refined attention to detail and extraordinary artistry.

Solo exhibition of Rhode Island based artist will introduce her impressive 2D and 3D works constructed from repurposed encyclopedias.

The inspiration for this show is the Knight Campus megastructure in Warwick, which was created in the Brutalist architectural style.
