As part of All College Week 2014, CCRI gives back to the community during Community Service Day.
Community Service Day
Varnum Memorial Armory and Varnum House Museum
6 Main St. and 1776 Revolution St., East Greenwich
The Varnum Continentals built their armory in 1913 in the medieval architectural style. The armory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as the Varnum Continentals’ headquarters. It contains an extensive military and naval museum that has been acquired through donation and purchase. The Varnum House Museum, the former manor home of Gen. James Mitchell Varnum, was built in 1773 and offers rare antiques, unique architecture and a rich history.
Volunteers on Community Service Day will be packing up boxes and other items to be moved to another location and doing some cleaning and organizing.
